Many of my online documents are encoded in Adobe's Portable Document Format. PDF is similar to PostScript, except it is more compact, more portable, and its reading software is free. The free Acrobat application can image PDF documents on every major platform. Follow the above link to download Acrobat. Most of the PCs and Unix boxes on campus are configured already for PDF. If you need to configure a browser to deal with PDF, the MIME type is application/pdf and Acrobat is the helper application.
